Jennifer A. Crumlish, Ph.D.
Dr. Jennifer Crumlish received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The Catholic University of America in 1996. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at St. Elizabeths in Washington, D.C., which included a rotation on the inpatient geriatric psychiatry ward. Her research work has been in mood spectrum disorders with a focus on bipolar disorder in the Biological Psychiatry Branch at the National Institute of Mental Health, in schizophrenia at Johns Hopkins University, and currently she is the Assistant Director of the Suicide Prevention Laboratory under Dr. David Jobes at Catholic University. Dr. Crumlish has taught courses in the graduate psychology program at Catholic University in psychopathology and diagnostic assessment. Since 2006, Dr. Crumlish has been a consultant to the D.C. Adult Protective Services division and conducts capacity evaluations of senior citizens throughout the city. Prior to joining WPC in 2002, Dr. Crumlish was a staff psychologist at the Kingsbury Center where she conducted neuropsychological assessments of school-aged children and adolescents and provided individual and group psychotherapy to students attending the Kingsbury School.
Dr. Crumlish's practice includes assessment and treatment of adolescents, adults, and couples. Her particular areas of interest with adolescents include anxiety, depression, attention, social issues, and academic success. Her areas of interest with adults include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, relationship issues, work/life balance, and long-standing issues and concerns that impact an individual's quality of life. Additional areas of interest include sexual issues for individuals and couples, issues related to retirement and aging, and working with clergy and ministers. Dr. Crumlish's treatment approach is flexible and pragmatic, with a core belief that gaining insight into one's self and others will lead to desired behavioral changes and an overall sense of well-being. Dr. Crumlish utilizes insight-oriented, cognitive, and behavioral approaches with an emphasis on tailoring treatment to each individual.
